Tinnitus

What is tinnitus?

Tinnitus is a subjectively audible noise that can vary in degrees of intesitiy. It can take the form of whistling or rustling but also various different tones. Its origin is to this day not entirely explained.

In many cases, acoustic trauma such as excessive noise exposure or a blast injury can lead to damaging of the inner ear.

Tinnitus can however, appear without an apparent cause.

Possible other reasons for the appearance of subjective tinnitus are:

Ear diseases

Paracusis

Acoustic neuroma

Ailments of the cervical spine

Craniomandibular dysfunction

Emotional stress

Medication side-effects

It is our goal to first treat the cause of the tinnitus, in order to then be able to apply further methods of treatment such as tinnitus retraining therapy, autogenic training, progressive muscle relaxation after Jacobson or musical therapy.

These methods of therapy aim at treating the symptom.
